Welcome to the Community of Our Lady of Sorrows

“Benedict’s way is the way of Christ, who welcomed without distinction and set before people a vision of what they might become.” (Elizabeth Canham)

You have found the community of Our Lady of Sorrows, an Oblate Chapter of the Order of St. Benedict and a member of the International Benedictine Community (IBC). Our membership is ecumenical and we welcome Christians of all faith traditions to join us as Oblates or Associates.  Our focus is teaching members how to live Benedictine spirituality in a way that is applicable to all.

The member groups of the International Benedictine Community follow the Rule of St. Benedict (480-547 A.D.) and are made up of Oblate Chapters and monastics. In these pages you will find information about
Benedictine spirituality, the Rule of St Benedict, membership, the history of our Chapter, and our monastery [link to Skete page], as well as how to contact us.

We invite you to “come and see” how a life lived within a framework of Benedictine spirituality can be uplifting, enriching and fulfilling, not only for you but those people who are a part of your life. If you would like a deeper relationship with Christ and the support of a loving community of people who share your goals and ideals,
contact us. Come to a meeting, join an Inquirer’s class, learn to live a life of joy within a struggling world.  We are waiting to welcome you.

Our next meeting is:  December 6, 2025
Meetings begin at 10 AM (Eastern Time, USA)
Contact us for an invitation.
