Membership

In our Community:

Our Creed
is that of the Apostles;

Our Rule is to welcome all as Christ;
Our Watchwords are: Unity in Essentials

We welcome Christians of all faith traditions to join us as Oblates or Associates, as we each bring the light of Christ to our own corner of the world, through living the Rule of St. Benedict in our daily lives.  We do not emphasize one faith over another, but teach Benedictine spirituality, while respecting the varying faith traditions of our members. Oblates form and Associates form Chapters among their family, friends and churches.

By being part of a Benedictine community, members are able to live more fully the Christian life. We share in the prayers, work, love, and commitment of all the monastic and Chapter members of our International Benedictine Community.

Our Chapter meets year-round on the first Saturday of every month, via Zoom. Meetings usually lasts less than 90 minutes; we also have an all-day Chapter retreat once a year, in May. Everyone is invited to join us – you do not need to be a member to attend meetings or our annual retreat.

How does one become a Chapter member?
As mentioned above, Christians of all faith traditions who profess the Apostle’s Creed may become a member of our Chapter. There are two levels of membership:
Oblate or Associate. Details about these membership levels can be found on their pages as noted.

Both Oblates and Associates have a period of initial formation by attending our introductory program, the Benedictine Inquirer’s Group [link to Inquirer’s page]. This group meets monthly for five weeks, leaning the basics of Benedictine spirituality. At the end of the session, you may then choose to become an Oblate, an Associate or just take what you have learned and apply it to your life as you feel is appropriate.

If you have aa question or would like to attend a meeting (no obligation!), please
contact us for more information. You can also visit us on Facebook: [link:]
